Food for thought.
I think it's important to say how you feel and firmly stand by it. But I also believe that it's equally important to allow others to see your viewpoint without making them feel like theirs is inadequate. We all have opinions, perspectives, and levels of thinking on different topics. So with this being undeniably true, I think we need to make an effort toward accepting truth and finding ways to speak and coexist. Just a little food for thought.

Song of the Day: 2 Seconds
First released song off of Jhene Aiko's debut album Souled Out! It's still not complete yet but I love it. Hope you do too :) She's so amazing. I hope she soon gets all the credit she deserves for her efforts and work ethic. I hope to one day see her in concert.

value
A word is just a word, until someone comes along and gives it a value or meaning. The words love and friend are two words I see and hear used on a daily basis and I often wonder if it's whole value is being accredited. I can't begin to tell you how many people I've called friend when they were only an associate. I think we often try to replace being real with being nice, without realizing the damage we'll stumble upon in the long run. I think we should all stamp the year 2012 as the year for "keeping it real."
In the past two years, I've come across some of the most shallow people I've ever met in my life. It amazed me how treacherous a person could be, then turn around and smile in your face, give you compliments, come to your house to chill, text for making weekend plans, and much more. Not only does this amount to a fake person and someone who lied about being your friend, they're ultimately a liar. One thing I cannot stand and I will not stand is a liar. I've come off too genuine to people for me to to always get stabbed in the back. If I call you a friend or say that I love you, it's truly meant and when certain people take that for granted it's hurtful. However, I don't cringe, I just forgive and forget.... until you come back.... if you ever do. I will never become this cold blooded person who will never befriend again, I just realize that I need to further evaluate people and their intensions before letting them in.
I have this hunch or rather, this intuition, about people before I really get to know them and my preconceived notions tend to be true 99.5% of the time... scary. I don't like to pass judgement so I give everyone a chance, but those who I knew would be shady from the start turn out to probe me correctamundo! It saddens me because who knew it could be so many flakey characters in the world? Now I will admit I had some good times with certain people, but then I begin to wonder if it was all what it seemed to be or was I being played a fool.
The thing that tears friendships apart are jealousy, lies, and he said/she said. A friendship should never involve jealousy because if it does there isn't a true relation. A jealous person will smile in your have but mentally break you down so that you can feel as low as they do. They're intentions are to break you. Lies, lies, lies rip apart any type of relationship built because once a lie is planted, the before and after is always questionable. There is no longer room for the word t r u s t. He said/she said is the most childish thing I've heard of. If there is a problem in a "true" friendship, it should be handled from the root of the problem with who it involves and how it may have happened. Any voices heard in between makes room for lies and various renditions of what actually happened. Stop it. This also includes "advice" from old friends. We've forgotten how to TALK to one another. We rather talk behind each other's back, send text messages, tweet, post Facebook statuses.... whatever, instead of being face-to-face and handling situations in a mature manner. Once you reach the age 18, you should be able to approach any situation in an adult manner. The childish have to cease.
When things get to a point where so many rumors have been spread, it resorts to unresolved conflicts, cursing, arguing, and violence. I'm too mature to deal with childish individuals. I have no issues with anyone at this point in my life (there are people who have problems with me and I would like to solve them but seems that won't be happening). I'm focused on bettering me on a daily basis. I feel as though if you have a problem with someone, especially someone you call a friend, talk about it..
To close off, there is one person I have something special to say to: If you are reading this, which I hope you are, no this is not all about you....... though most of it was inspired by you... and our other friend we began with. I really love you with all my heart. I wish we could be friends again... like before. Titles complicate things. Miscommunication & No-communication ruin things. You are really the only real friend I have and ever had..... I feel really stupid for saying this. I feel like... I don't know. *sigh*

Dear Mama
Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's that visit ThatBoyCanDream and mother's of those who also visit... Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read. Shoutout and *round of applause* to all of you that did something special for your mother, grandmother, or whatever woman that means that much to you that you figured you'd show her your appreciation for her today. Don't let today, Christmas, and their birthday be the only day(s) that you remind them that they are appreciated though. Also shootout to father's that are the mother & father, I appreciate you more than I appreciate single mothers, for more reasons than one, but one reason is because it's not in a man's nature to put someone before himself. *Standing Ovation*
I can't speak for everyone, but my mother is the sole reason I feel I have to excel in life, well & the fact that I have expensive habits/taste, but that's not important at the moment. My mother pushes me to do good & still supports me when I do bad. She still had faith in me when I consistently messed up. She's not perfect & neither am I but I love her nonetheless. If your mother is the same, you have to do well for her.
This is for you though. Your mother puts up with you, works hard on a daily basis for you, and makes sure you are situated. You may not live in the best environment or have everything you want, but I promise if you told her "Happy Mother's Day" then she's trying the best she can. I'm not doing the best in life, I'm trying like you, but try a little harder for her. You don't want to do this & you don't want to do that, but what if she did not want to take care of you? What if she said forget work, I'll go be a waitress & just provide for myself? So don't make decisions based upon your wants & desires, do it to make her look good. Do it for her future, so you can take care of her, so she doesn't have to work by the time you're 30. All I'm say is, return the effort that was given all these years.
Do what you have to do, so she can live how you want her to. Do what you have to do, so she can be satisfied at night with your actions. Put your faith in God, her & yourself. Consistency is key. Peace.

Song of the Day: Soulo Ho3
A good friend of mine, knowing that I'm a supporter of Kendrick Lamar & Schoolboy Q, recommended Ab-Soul's album Control System to me being that he is a member of TDE. And I must say, I'm sold! I've listened to Ab-Soul before, but they were all features. In order for me to be a fan, I need YOUR work. and it has to hit. This album is a HIT! I really feel this guy, he deserves more credit. So for today's song of the day, I give you Soulo Ho3 featuring non other than my personal favorite Jhene Aiko. :) S/O to Kamryn for the push! Enjoy guys.

one word, various interpretations
It was around 9pm this past Sunday when I asked my cousin to give a random word to write about. She thought for a second and came up with faith, "since it's Sunday" she said. As that moment, several thoughts invaded my mind. Faith is such a short word, yet it has so many meanings. I defined the word to try and grasp the meaning in its entirety. There were quite a few definitions, but one in particular caught my attention. It read, "Belief that is not based on proof." I thought about Christianity and the belief that God was indeed a being, any and everywhere. He created heaven and earth, man and woman. He ultimately determines when your life shall begin and end; but who's to say He even exists. There are no images known to mankind of God and it has only been said that He is amongst us, but we must have faith as believers in Christ.
As Christians, we study the bible which is a compilation of many stories. Stories are simply narratives either fictitious or true. However, the book was written by man so who's to say man did not imagine the things he wrote of, or perhaps changed the stories into his very own renditions. If man steals, cheats, commits adultery, and/or does not remember the Sabbath day, are there repercussions? It says that we are forgiven as Christians but if man repeatedly does wrong, or for better use of words, evil will he too be forgiven? Is there a heaven and hell? Is there really someone up above watching over my brothers and sisters? With faith I can only believe these things to be true.
What about the Christians who have decide to make their bodies works of walking art? Leviticus 19:28 says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." (Yes, I do have tattoos but that was before I knew this.) What about those that have images of what their God or Jesus like tattooed, will they be shunned and refused at the gates of heaven? Or will they be forgiven for they are good people who had no intentions of upsetting a higher being, God?
So many questions, yet so little answers. It is understood that one must have faith an believe in the unseen. I often question my faith only because it's hard for me to accept things that I can not see with my own eyes, touch with my own hands, or speak to and not hear back from. However, I do feel as though there is someone looking over me. What allows me to wake up in the morning, see another day when yesterday could have been my last? Who answers my prayers? When I get weak, who gives me strength? Could faith be an entity in itself... a motivator to keep pressing on, because there is always light at the end of the tunnel? Is God necessarily the big picture or is it what you believe in as an optimist?
